Job Description

About Castro Labs:

Castro Labs is a technology team building modern products to help people connect. We create new, fun spaces for the LGBTQ+ community to meet and thrive. We’re a small team of queer individuals from Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Google who are working to build the next wave of technologies and products that the queer community deserves.

We’re looking for an inquisitive, well-rounded iOS engineer to lead the development of our premiere app — a fun and friendly way for gay, bi, trans and queer men and non-binary folks, to meet new people and chat safely with those they already know. You’ll work alongside product, design, user research, marketing, and engineering to develop our iOS app and play a critical role in shaping the long-term direction of the product and company.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead development of the iOS app, from frontend and full-stack features to reliability, performance, architecture, and beyond

  • Contribute to and lead each step of the product development process, from ideation to implementation to release

  • Partner with design, product, other engineers, and other XFN to build end to end functionality

  • Grow as an engineer by working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment

What we’re looking for:
  • Deep understanding of iOS development and best practices in Swift or SwiftUI, e.g. XCode, app states, memory management, etc

  • 4+ years of industry iOS application development experience, building consumer or business facing products

  • Feeling ownership and passion about the products we build

  • Experience in following best practices in writing reliable and maintainable code that may be used by many other engineers

  • Ability to keep up-to-date with new technologies to understand what should be incorporated

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
